History

The station served the local stately home Wotton House and surrounding village of Wotton Underwood and allowed a direct connection to London. The station closed in 1953 and remained empty for a number of years before being renovated and extended in the 1970’s using the same materials of engineering brick and Welsh slate. The present owners have completed a further renovation in a contemporary style to a high standard.
The Property

Formerly a Great Central Railway station serving the local stately home Wotton House and surrounding village of Wotton Underwood, The Old Station has been successfully converted in recent years and fully refurbished to provide an excellent level of versatile accommodation. Presented in immaculate order throughout, the property sits on a substantial plot with wrap around gardens in excess of ¾ of an acre and benefits from driveway parking, large patio terrace, detached double garage and a separate office.

Internally, the property has been refurbished to a high standard in recent years and is comprised of a spacious kitchen / dining room, sitting room, utility room, four bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Fully refitted with modern white units and Oak work surfaces, the kitchen boasts a range of integral Bosch appliances, spacious breakfast bar and is bathed in natural light through its original windows and a set of French doors from the dining area. Benefitting from a combination of vaulted velux and large windows, the sitting room features a modern wood burning stove and real wood flooring.

There is a triple aspect master bedroom boasting dressing room and an en-suite shower room. Additionally there are two further double bedrooms and a good size fourth bedroom, currently utilised as a study.

Constructed in 1906, the original section of the building boasts tall ceilings and in 2008, the original frames were fitted with modern double glazing and fully refurbished to pristine condition ensuring the character of The Old Station has been retained.

The substantial gardens were professionally landscaped in 2013 and measure in excess of ¾ of an acre. To the front of the property there are well stocked borders offering a variety of colours through the seasons whilst a gravel driveway allows parking for a number of vehicles. The expansive gardens continue around the sides of the bungalow and are predominantly laid to lawn with a wide variety of mature trees and hedging.
