The village of Kintbury sits within a conservation area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Its amenities include popular public houses, a post office/store, a butcher and a church.  The Kennet and Avon canal runs through, and offers pretty walks alongside.

Within approximately 6 miles are two Michelin-starred restaurants ? the Blackbird in Bagnor and the Woodspeen just outside Newbury.

Both Hungerford and Newbury are market towns, each rather lovely and offering shopping, entertainment and a range of restaurants and pubs.

History

This stunning rebuilt manor house has a distinct feel of the Loire Chateaux, and is believed to have been built at the end of the 18th Century with later additions.  The Inglewood estate on which Inglewood House sits was owned by the Blandy family from somewhere around 1592, and they are believed to have been involved in the wool trade.  Later notable owners include the Shaw family, and the Bevan family ? including Lt Col. Charles Bevan, sometimes referred to as ?Wellington?s scapegoat? following the escape of the French garrison from the fortress of Almeida.

In 1928 Inglewood House was sold to the De La Salle brothers, and known as St John?s College.  This was run as a training centre for young men joining the order.

In 1972 Inglewood House was sold again, and became Inglewood Health Hydro.

In 2006 Raven Audley Court bought Inglewood Manor, which was rebuilt in modern materials and the façade replicated.  Works were completed with show homes opening in October 2012.
