The Story

SUPERNOVA IS A TRULY UNIQUE HOME, WHICH OFFERS EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY LIVING SPACE AND MAGNIFICENT GARDENS WITHIN A CONVENIENT YETQUIET LOCATION

Looking out from her light home on to her leafy, mature garden, the owner of Supernova enjoys the feeling of space and greenery. Her unique home offers flexible accommodation and a fabulous garden with all sorts of wonderful places to relax, entertain and explore. "This house is surrounded by about one-quarter to one-third of an acre, which is always green, even in the winter time," she says. "This
place used to be called Parklands and it is easy to see why. We are just three minutes' drive from Cwmbran, with all its shops and amenities, and yet it is so nice and quiet here. The house was designed with lots of big windows, which not only bring the light pouring in but also make it feel open to all the greenery around us."

LIGHT AND OPEN

Supernova was built in the 1960s and has been significantly extended over the years. Today, its bright and airy ground floor living space includes the entrance hall, which leads into the breakfast room and kitchen, as well as an inner hall, cloakroom and then large, triple-aspect bedroom. The breakfast room and kitchen
give into an open-plan drawing and dining room, as well as another cloakroom. "The whole of this level feels very open indeed," she points out. "The drawing and dining room has a vaulted ceiling and galleried landing above. This room is triple aspect, with glass doors than can be opened on to the garden on three sides."

INCREDIBLE SPACE

The layout of the house makes it easy to live in and perfect for entertaining, she says. "Some people have said it has a European or Mediterranean feel. I grew up in California and New Zealand and it does have the airy feel of houses there but to me now it just feels like home," she admits. "We spend a lot of our time in the kitchen breakfast room, where there is plenty of space for everyone to gather together. The beauty of having the spacious drawing and dining room too is that people can also get away from each other easily when they want to!" She says: "This house was ideal when we had the children's christenings and other family celebrations because it can accommodate so many people."

UNIQUE ARRANGEMENT

There are two separate first-floor areas with bedroom and bathroom accommodation at Supernova. One set of stairs leads up to three bedrooms and the family bathroom while another rises up to the galleried landing, which in turn leads to the master bedroom and its en suite bathroom. "This is nice because it enjoys its privacy and also looks out over the atrium," she says. "It has always been very easy to accommodate people overnight here. We
have had 15 staying over Christmas and four families on another occasion."

SUMMER DAYS

The garden, which also has something of a Mediterranean feel in parts, has been an integral part of life at Supernova. The children have enjoyed the luxury of a splendid playhouse, with a glass front, which overlooks the garden and could have a variety of uses. "When we came here we decided to make the garden low maintenance,
creating different areas for sitting out, entertaining or having barbecues. We had a hot tub installed, which gave us some water to enjoy without the responsibility of a pool: we use that a lot all through the summer and we eat outside too as it is so easy with the doors from the breakfast room."

BEST OF EVERYTHING

From the house they can stroll to many beauty spots, including the Blaen Bran woodlands and mountain walk. "We are also just 10 minutes' drive from Llandegfedd Reservoir, where my children go sailing and from other places that are lovely to visit at any time of year," she says. "But we enjoy the best of both worlds here because
the centre of Cwmbran, the supermarkets and high street shops, are all so close as well, and it only takes 10 minutes to reach the M4." She adds: "I will miss this amazing, light house and its green surroundings when we leave - it is like living in the country here but with all the benefits of being in the town."

Setting the Scene

Supernova sits in magnificent grounds of approximately one-third of an acre. The mature garden to the rear has a Spanish feel, with plenty of places to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. There are areas of
lawn and terrace, and a children's playhouse or summer house, which overlooks the garden. To the front of the property, there is a driveway, which is gated and offers ample parking.

Whats Nearby

Just a two minute drive away you will find yourself in the bustling town of Cwmbran where you will find every amenity you could ever wish for. There are some superb restaurants, pubs and bars along with some fantastic shops including House of Fraser.
