When we first bought Timbers we could see it's potential straight away - it was love at first sight. We loved the big windows which gives the house its bright airy rooms, and the house has a spacious feel, although still feels cozy. As the house was built in the 1960's we went for a bit of a 'modern retro' feel with the decor. We've undertaken huge improvements including double glazing, relocation of the stairs to improve heat efficiency, installation of dual fuel log burner, new boiler, kitchen, bathroom and most recently the downstairs cloakroom.
The rooms are nicely proportioned, with the 2 double bedrooms being almost equal sized and there's plenty of room for storage (we put in Ikea fitted wardrobes). The kitchen is a good but manageable size, and when we replaced the kitchen we installed a breakfast bar so we can spend time together whilst we're cooking - and we really enjoy spending time in here. We also love the French doors, which link the house to the garden - we like watching the birds and changing seasons from the comfort of indoors.
The garden was a big selling point for us - it's a real haven - it's quiet and private and we often feel we could be living in the countryside. We've made changes over the years, including putting in the raised vegetable beds and a small wildlife pond. The Warrens is a quiet cul-de-sac. When we moved in, most of of our neighbours were retired, but now we have quite a mix of older and younger people - we're not the youngest family in the street anymore. Over the years we've even had a few street parties, which really helped us to get to know everyone - the neighbours were very welcoming, and we all help each other out.
"Hartley is a great community to live in, with plenty of local shops, two local doctors surgeries, a dentist - and the shops in Longfield are within close proximity. There are loads of activities going on in Hartley too - so it's easy to get to know people. We've always felt safe and secure here - it has a rural feel, without being isolated. It really has everything!"

Location

This home is located in a small cul-de-sac near the centre of the village of Hartley, which boasts two Primary schools, several local shops, Post Office and Hartley Country Club. The adjacent Longfield provides further amenities such as Waitrose, Co-Op, Doctors, Vets and Longfield Station. Buses run along the nearby Ash road.
