Recently voted one of the Sunday Times best places to live in Britain, Morpeth town combines stylish shops, a wide range of restaurants and bars, as well as a beautiful park and the William Turner garden. As would be expected in a large town there are supermarkets, doctor's surgeries, dentists, a large leisure centre, golf course, and a lovely stretch of the River Wansbeck to walk along.
The property itself is an opulent French inspired home, brimming with character and charm; it’s obvious this stunning red brick terrace has been lovingly restored. It is a true vintage gem, less than five minutes walk away from the high street.
A neat low maintenance garden can be found at the front of the property, accessed via a black wrought iron gate. This area is the perfect place to sit out and overlooks a communal green space.
Entering the property you are welcomed into a light hallway with stairs up to the first floor and doors off to the reception rooms.
The first reception room is situated at the front of the house. This room benefits from two large southwest facing windows that provide the room with plenty of sun and natural light. This room is full of character, with a gorgeous cast iron fireplace and build in cupboards on either side. This room also has a beautiful large Victorian style wrought iron radiator.
A second larger reception room can also be accessed from the hallway. This sitting and dining area also has two large windows overlooking a private yard. As with the first reception room the space has also been decorated in a wonderful French cottage style. The focal point of this room is an inglenook fireplace with a wooden sleeper beam mantel that houses a cream enamel wood burner. There are two original cupboards on either side of the fireplace. This room also has a wrought iron radiator.
The cream country style kitchen was only refitted last year and it is evident that this room has been cared for and is in a beautiful condition. The kitchen is fitted with an integrated microwave, slimline dishwasher, fridge and washing machine. From this room there is access to the sheltered east facing yard via a UPVC door. This outdoor space gets plenty of sunlight in the mornings and it floods the kitchen with warm natural light.
On the first floor landing there is a loft hatch providing access to a perfect storage area. Upstairs there are beautiful light fittings with smart brushed chrome switches.
The master bedroom is a well sized double. It is a bright sunny room with a large window, again overlooking the street and the communal green opposite the house. This room has been fitted with another stunning cast iron fireplace and slate hearth.
The second bedroom is also a good sized double and also has a period style fireplace and Victorian radiator. These two bedrooms are finished to an extremely high standard with beautiful features.
The third bedroom is a cot room, perfect for a home office or children’s playroom. Although this room is slightly smaller it is just as stylish and has another of those gorgeous iron radiators.
The French style bathroom is one of my favourite rooms in the house. This opulent room is partly clad in wood panelling, and there is a Victorian style white toilet with a high cistern. Another feature is the built in french vanity unit with marble top and a sunken basin. The highlight of this room is the clawfoot freestanding slipper bath with matching wall mounted soap holder beside it.
