Avon Cottage is a characterful three bedroom detached cottage situated in a convenient location on the outskirts of Padstow and only a couple of miles to Trevone beach. The property has a fascinating history having been the dwelling place of the famous inventor and scientist Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, who was born at Avon Cottage in 1793. There is a plaque on the side of the cottage in his memory.

Internally, the property has some wonderful noteworthy features which include a Cornish stone fireplace and an exposed stone wall on the landing. The ground floor comprises of a large kitchen with pine wall and base units, stainless steel sink, space for a dishwasher, electric oven with extractor fan over and quarry tiled flooring. A rustic latch door leads to a useful utility room where the Worcester boiler is located and there is space/plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer. The living room is a great size, with two window seats, slate effect laminate flooring, plenty of space for a large dining table at one end of the room and a beautiful stone feature fireplace with a driftwood mantel and slate hearth is located at the opposite end of the room. Also on the ground floor is a separate WC, understairs cupboard and a cosy sitting room with a Delabole slate open fireplace and double doors opening out on to a small patio area.

Up the stairs to the first floor landing, immediately to the left is the family bathroom comprising of a panelled bath with Neptune Solo shower over and tiled surround, pedestal wash hand basin, low level WC, heated towel rail and a small double glazed window. There are three generous sized double bedrooms, two are located at the front of the property and the master bedroom to the rear with lovely views over the countryside. All of the windows throughout the property are double glazed.

Outside there is a south facing private and enclosed sun trap patio area with a Cornish stone wall to one side and a graveled pathway leading to the side and rear access gates. One of the gates leads to a side patio area with a storage shed and a pathway that wraps round the side of the property. There is gated access from the road directly to the front door and ramp access to the rear of the property from the large driveway which has ample space for several vehicles. Services to the property include mains water, electricity and drainage with an LP gas central heating system.

The historic and picturesque fishing town of Padstow is located on the North Coast of Cornwall and offers an extensive range of cafes, public houses and restaurants, none more so than Paul Ainsworth's Michelin starred No.6 and of course Rick Stein's esteemed Seafood restaurant. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are several sandy beaches within 2 to 4 miles as well as the championship golf course at Trevose. The town also has a supermarket and excellent Primary School. For more extensive shopping facilities, the thriving market town of Wadebridge is just 7 miles distant and offers a fine selection of shops and amenities including a sports centre, cinema, a primary and secondary school and a selection of supermarkets. The nearest mainline station is Bodmin Parkway which is approximately 20 miles distant with the nearest airport at Newquay approximately 14 miles away.

To find Avon Cottage, drive towards Padstow on the A389. On the outskirts of Padstow, turn left at the bend for the B3276 signposted to Harlyn Bay & Trevone and follow this road for approximately 0.6 miles. Avon Cottage can be found along the right hand side. The postcode for satellite navigation is PL28 8RU.
