Implementation of the recommended planting on site as part of the scheme is considered to adequately compensate for the loss of these small areas of habitat.

The proposals for the site provide an opportunity for ecological benefit through providing soft landscaping which includes native species that will enhance site biodiversity and provision for bat roosting opportunities, contributing to local and national conservation targets.

Drainage

A drainage report on the site concluded that the spring does not flood the site in large storm events. As a result of the topography of the site any water discharging from the spring will flow away from the proposed dwellings and into the existing drainage ditch to the south.
