Knowing Highams Park as we did, with its excellent reputation for schools, transport links and strong community spirit, we were thrilled to find our new home in this part of Waltham Forest eleven years ago. Since then we have set about not only to enjoy life here but also to extend and adapt the fabric of the house for 21st Century living for our extended family. The new dining room, with its floor to ceiling windows, brings the garden right into our house, whereas the heart of the home, our extensive kitchen, is my wife’s pride and joy. The addition of a large, new master bedroom with ensuite, above a generous sized new garage, added the finishing touches we wanted.

Being passionate about energy and the environment we have added solar panels, to help reduce our electricity demand, and Exterior Wall Insulation, to help keep heating bills as low as possible. Not only are we being paid around £700 per year through the Feed In Tariff scheme but our grid electricity consumption during much of the year is negligible. Our heating bills are incredibly low for a house of this size too. We are extremely proud that we have finally achieved an EPC rating of B, something that normally only new build homes are awarded.

Recently retired, we have decided to move closer to our children as our child minding services are in ever increasing demand. We have been so very contented here and leave, confident that a new family will be just as happy as we have been.
