Situation
Lustleigh is one of the most beautiful and popular villages within the Dartmoor National Park, being set in a lovely valley towards the eastern edge of the National Park. Many of the houses date from the 15th and 16th century and the village is laid out around the Green, with church, shop with post office, garage and popular pub. There is an active local community and the cricket club plays on the private pitch below the pub. There are clubs for all interests. Dartmoor itself is renowned for its spectacular scenery, with its granite tors, heather clad moorland and wooded valleys bisected by rushing streams and rivers and there are many opportunities locally for walking, riding and fishing, including the nearby reservoirs of Kennick, Tottiford and Trenchford. Popular restaurants in the area include Gidleigh Park Hotel, near Chagford and there are golf courses at Bovey Castle Hotel and Stover. To the south is the fabulous South Devon coast, with its many beaches, coastal walks,
estuaries and opportunities for sailing and other water sports.
There is a selection of private schools in the area, at Stover and in the university city of Exeter. The nearby moorland towns of Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead provide an extensive range of local amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants.

Communications
There is easy access along the A382, via Bovey Tracey, to the A38 dual carriageway, leading south west to Plymouth and north east to Exeter. There is a railway station at Newton Abbot with mainline connections to Exeter and London (Paddington and Waterloo) and at Exeter there is access onto the M5 motorway and an international airport with regular flights to London City Airport. From Plymouth there are ferries to France and Spain.
