SETTING AND LOCATION Howe Street is a hamlet some 2 miles to the north of the picturesque village Finchingfield with its quintessential village green and pond overlooked by the Church and collection of period houses, in the heart of the rolling agricultural scenery of North Essex, commonly acknowledged as some of the most attractive in the County. The surroundings are rural, the outlook to north over the fields over a shallow valley to further fields beyond being particularly attractive. In the valley is Finchingfield Equestrian Centre. The area is well served by bridleways and there is good local hacking. Local centres for shopping include Saffron Walden (Waitrose), Braintree (Freeport Shopping Centre), and Great Dunmow (Tesco). The M11 serves Cambridge to the north and the M25 Canary Wharf and the City of London to the south. The M25 and London. Stansted Airport with its expanding range of domestic and international destinations is within easy reach. Local stations into London's Liverpool Street include Elsenham on the Cambridge line or Witham on the Colchester/Ipswich line. Alternatively there is are stations at Braintree and Freeport which are on the branch line connecting with the main line at Witham.
