The Vendor's View - We first noticed this property before it was for sale and thought it was a great house in an ideal location, right in the city centre. When it came on the market, we viewed it immediately, and realised that the versatile space inside would suit us perfectly. Living here, we can walk to all the shops, gym and social amenities, or just pop out for a meal or a drink.
Having Canterbury West railway station just a few minutes' walk away was great when we commuted, and now serves us well when we want to go to London recreationally. Although we rarely use the car, having private parking space is a big plus.
The house is set back and angled from the pedestrianised street, so it is very peaceful. People often say, as they come through the gate into our walled garden, that it is like walking into a green oasis. The house has great character, as parts of it are around 400 years' old, but fortunately has Georgian windows, so is light and bright. We have found it to be an extremely flexible place to live, especially being a three storey property and there is further potential to transform the spaces for open plan living too. The ground floor has an ideal layout with separate spaces to be used independently including a study and a conservatory. We have room in the loft which could be used as additional living space, accommodation or a studio, all with the benefit of Cathedral views. We have a mature garden, plus an allotment ten minutes' walk away, which is great for us as keen gardeners.
We are going to miss city centre living, combined with the privacy of a walled garden behind a lockable gate. We shall also miss the conservatory, where we can enjoy the garden while reading or having a coffee
