Old St. Peters presents a unique opportunity for someone to own, live in and enjoy this historic building. As the owner of this beautiful piece of important architecture, you could almost be considered the custodian of this building's history and significant importance to the area.

Old St. Peters, currently a unique family home, is the former parish church to the village of Peterstone and was founded in 1142, currently a unique family home, at nearly 900 years old this site has been of religious and community importance for a very long time and along with the now standing 15th century building, it has been witness to many historical events and eras. The ornamental stonework both inside and out is awe inspiring. The grey limestone seems to magically catch the sunlight as you gaze up at the vast tower with perfect blue skies behind it.

The building itself is substantial. Its perpendicular in style and has undergone two significant restorations over time, once in the early 17th Century and then again in the late 19th Century. Described by the architectural historian John Newman as 'the noblest and most beautiful Perpendicular church in the whole country', the building was listed Grade 1 on 3rd January 1963. The layout comprises a naïve with aisles and chancel, a three-stage West tower, a vestry and a porch. The tower which is three storeyed with crocketed finials and hand carved figures of saints on its four faces. The naïve and its hammer beam roof is 15th century although restored, while the chancel and its roof are nineteenth century. The space of the interior creates such a calm and peaceful place that can only be experienced by taking it in for one's self.

From the top of the tower, you will be struck by the magnificent views that look into four, sometimes five counties with an incredible panoramic view of the Welsh and Monmouthshire mountains on one side and the Bristol Channel and Mendip Hills beyond to the other. On a perfect summer's day, I'm not sure you would ever want to come away from this breath-taking scenery.

The property is entered by a set of wrought iron gates with a sweeping drive leading into the grounds. The grounds are approximately of an acre in size and surrounded by mature trees and lawn. You could get lost in this garden with plenty of private and secret areas to discover and enjoy, quite simply a children's dream, full of adventure and magic. There is ample parking for several cars and a footpath runs alongside and leads down to the bank of the Severn Estuary where you can join the Wales Coastal Path.

Peterstone Wentloog is situated within the historic Gwent Levels, a SSI, and AOB and the only Green Belt in Wales. A beautiful coastal village which lies 6 miles to the west of Newport city centre and 7.5 miles east of Cardiff city centre with easy access to the M4 motorway and major transport links.

The property is on a 999-year lease from May 2002.
