Tenure: Freehold

Absorbing the tranquility at their attractive property at Rowsham Dell, the current owners agree the space there has been perfect for them. They bought the property approximately 27 years ago and went on to transform it into an excellent multi-generational home. “All the houses down here were originally self-build properties and we were the first people to live in ours after it had been completed by the previous owner,” one of them explains. “At the time, we had three young girls and were looking to move to a larger house and had actually come to the area to visit another property. We saw the sign outside this house too and were able to view it immediately. We liked it so much that before we left we made an offer. We then sold our own home that weekend – and everything fell into place.”

GREEN VIEW
Looking back, she knows exactly what drew them to the house. “The house itself had a lot of kerb appeal,” she recalls. “It was nicely set back from the road, with a green in front, and was very private yet within reach of neighbours if you needed them. The area was also attractive, with the houses nicely spaced out.” The owners also felt the property held great potential. “We could also see there was plenty of scope for making changes in the future,” she adds.

HOME COMFORTS
Over the years, they did go on to make significant changes. These ranged from adding a large conservatory to removing the existing garage to enable them to extend out further from the house. “We then added a new double garage and created the annexe above,” she remembers. “This was excellent for my parents, who were able to have their own independent living space.” Indeed, the annexe now has a sitting or dining room, kitchen and bedroom with en suite shower room. It is perfect for multi-generational living or for guests. “It shares the utility room with the main house but has its own front door,” she adds.

FAMILY SPACE
The main house has also been improved and redecorated; fireplaces have been moved and installed, and the layout upstairs has been reconfigured to allow for the creation of a new dressing area. The flexible ground floor accommodation now includes a drawing room, dining room and study, as well as the conservatory, kitchen, utility room and cloakroom. Upstairs, the master bedroom boasts an en suite shower room, as well as a dressing area. A guest bedroom also has an en suite shower room and two further bedrooms share the family bathroom. “The arrangement of the accommodation has made it a very comfortable family home,” she adds.

INVITING ROOMS
The generous reception space also makes it a great place for working from home if necessary and for entertaining. “It works quite well because rooms open up into each other, allowing people to move easily from one place to another – or out into the garden,” she says. “My own favourite room to spend time in is the conservatory, which is nice and light and looks out over the garden.” She adds: “The garden was a blank canvas when we arrived but we have had it landscaped and it is now mature.” The dining room, with its red walls is an inviting space in the evening time, while the annexe’s reception room is also welcoming. “This has the best view in the house as it looks out over the green,” she observes.

GREAT LOCATION
While enjoying proximity to local amenities, Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes, as well as road and rail links, Giffard Park also enjoys a green, open feel. Nearby Manor Park at Great Linford is very picturesque, offering a flavour of the 18th century fashion for shaping the landscape. Great Linford Lakes is also popular with families – and renowned for its fishing and many competitions and events throughout the year. This area comprises nine lakes and two miles of river. “This is a lovely area to live because it is private and peaceful and yet not isolated,” the owner adds. “Most of those living at Rowsham Dell have been here for a long time. It is one of those places that people tend to stay because they enjoy it so much.”
