Description

The Old School house was originally inhabited by the head master of the local primary school up until 1987. It was then sold for private residential use and now offers a great family home in the centre of the village, with high ceilings and spacious reception rooms. In 1991 the school ceased functioning as a primary school and was converted into a residential home. The current owners have sympathetically replaced many of the windows with double glazing and have refurbished it retaining much of the original character and charm. The property is not listed but is within the conservation area.

On entering the property you come into the dining hall, a large room with high ceilings and decorative fireplace, Stovax wood burning stove and stone hearth. The wooden floor boards run through from here into the sitting room. There is a window seat overlooking the front. From here there is access through to the sitting room, kitchen and cellar. The sitting room has a wood burning stove with windows to two aspects providing plenty of light. There is plenty of room for entertaining and for large furniture. The kitchen has some built in wall and base units, double Belfast sink, Leisure electric cooker with gas hob. (Bottled gas). There is space for a large fridge freezer. The utility room has a stable door leading out to the front. There is space for a dishwasher and under counter freezer. There is a downstairs shower room with space for a washing machine. On the first floor landing is a study area with built in shelves. Bedroom one, a good sized double with dressing room area, with fitted shelves and hanging space. Bedroom two a smaller single is situated next to the bathroom which is partly tiled and has a free standing roll top bath, with w.c. sink and heated towel rail. Wooden floor boards are found throughout the first floor. On the second floor are two further attic bedrooms (double) both with Velux windows and windows overlooking the garden and front.

Outside there is a paved pathway which runs along the front of the house enclosed by a picket fence. The path leads through to the garden which is completely enclosed by stone walling. Mostly laid to lawn with some very pretty flowerbed borders and more mature trees, including two apple trees and two espaliered pear trees. Pleached limes provide privacy from the neighbours. There are also some vegetable beds and a seating area perfect for alfresco dining. This house would make a great lock up and leave or for those looking to down size, as well as a good family home.
