Formerly an inn, it takes its name from the inn sign which featured a boat. The Location
Noah's Ark is a substantial period house set in an outstanding location close to Newtown estuary and harbour. This area, the majority of which is held inalienably by the National Trust, has considerable nature conservation interest, and recreation includes visiting yachtsmen, walkers and naturalists. The Newtown estuary is designated a National Nature Reserve. Vehicle ferries run from the mainland; Lymington - Yarmouth, Southampton - Cowes and Portsmouth to Fishbourne, and the main shopping and commercial facilities are to be found at Newport. Newtown itself is renowned for its unspoilt natural harbour and estuary and surrounding National Nature reserve protecting waders and wildfowl.
