Full description

Jayman Lettings are pleased to offer this very spacious three double bedroom apartment in the heart of Lichfield CIty Center with stunning views opposite Lichfield Cathedral.

Living in The Close
The road surrounding the Cathedral is known as The Close. Branching off from this are Newton’s College with its collection of terraced 19th century properties, and Vicars’ Close, a stunning courtyard of historic properties dating back to 15th century.
The Cathedral and the properties that surround it have evolved over many years with examples of buildings from 14th to 20th century. The Close is a picturesque setting for the Cathedral and a site of great heritage significance.
Lichfield Cathedral own and manage the road and precincts, in addition to around seventy buildings across the site.
Living in The Close is a completely unique experience and a chance to be part of the history of a place filled with atmosphere and charm.
Private Road
The Close is a private road and the precincts are owned and managed by Lichfield Cathedral. At times throughout the year the road may be closed for special events in the Cathedral and/or Close. On occasions a Royal Visit takes place and resident’s details may be requested. Those who live in The Close are notified in advance of any large events or anticipated disruption (and invited to join in for most events!). If cars need to be moved we do try to make alternative parking arrangements for permit holders, wherever possible.
Listed Buildings
The Close is a conservation area so there are restrictions about what can and cannot be done to buildings, trees and the precincts in general. The majority of properties owned by the Cathedral are also Listed Buildings so there are strict rules about how the buildings are managed. We are unable to make alterations, either internally or externally without the appropriate permissions.
Parking
Parking in The Close is for permit holders only. There are limited spaces and there is a waiting list system if none are available. Currently, permits in The Close are available for £13.33 per month. There is no guarantee that the parking space will be directly outside your property but it will be somewhere within The Close.
Water
Due to the nature of the road, the way that water is billed is somewhat complicated. Most residents will receive bills from the Cathedral office and also from South Staffs Water. This does not mean that the water is being billed twice! The water coming into the property is billed by the Cathedral and the outgoing waste is billed by South Staffs water.
Heritage and Visitors
The Cathedral is a heritage site and it does attract visitors who want to see the Cathedral and the buildings in the Close. Although we wish for our residents to feel completely at home, it is very important for the Cathedral to maintain the precincts and reduce risks around the site. Whilst a limited amount of plants and flowers are very welcome, we would ask you not to put your washing line up outside or other paraphernalia. This helps us to maintain the Close and ensure that it remains a beautiful place to live.
If you are interested in living in The Close or have any queries please contact the Estates Department on or kayley.

All residential enquirers must understand that The Cathedral and its estate is a busy functioning and operational place where services, events, exhibitions, markets and festivals are held throughout the year to assist the Cathedral in its aims and mission. Whereas living in The Close is a completely unique experience and a chance to be part of the history of a place filled with atmosphere and charm, residents are required to be flexible from time to time to cater for these events. This may include but isn’t exhaustive to vehicles being relocated off site or noise during events.
