Your Guide to Applying at Rightmove
Everything you need to know before, during and after your interview, from how we hire to how we’ll support you along the way.
We know applying for a new job can stir up all sorts of feelings: excitement, nerves, maybe a bit of “do I have everything ready?” That’s completely normal, and we’ve created this guide to take some of the guesswork out of it. Here’s how we hire, what each stage looks like and how to feel ready for it, so you can decide whether Rightmove is the move for you.
Every role is a little different, but most of our hiring follows the same shape:
You apply through our careers site, and our own Talent Acquisition team reviews your application, looking at your experience alongside what the role needs.
An initial discussion with one of our TA team. We’ll explore your experience and what you’re looking for, talk through the role in detail and give you an honest picture of what it’s really like here: the good bits and the busy bits. It’s a two-way conversation, so there’s plenty of space for your questions too.
This is where we get into the detail. Expect a series of structured interviews, and where it’s relevant to the role, a practical task or exercise, each one designed to explore a different part of what the job needs.
We’re looking to understand your skills, your experience and how you approach things and we use a consistent set of questions and criteria so that candidates for the same role are assessed against the same things. It’s also your chance to understand how we work and meet the people you’d be working alongside.
By this point we know that it’s just as important for you to feel that things align to your expectations. We therefore like to meet face-to-face. This stage goes a level deeper: you might present your thinking on a relevant topic, work through a scenario with the team, or explore the role in more depth with senior stakeholders. Whatever it involves, we’ll tell you well in advance so there are no surprises.
We’ll keep you in the loop throughout and share feedback on the outcome, whichever way it goes.
Making this feel fair and human matters to us, so we:
It comes down to something simple: we want every single person who applies to feel respected, supported and able bring their best self.
We want this process to work for you, exactly as you are. If there’s anything that would help you feel more comfortable or perform at your best, just let us know. That might mean extra time, a different format, or a quieter space, for example. Tell us what would help and we’ll work with you to put reasonable adjustments in place. You can speak to your recruiter directly or email us at careers@rightmove.co.uk.
AI is part of how a lot of people apply and prepare now, and honestly, we get it. Here’s how we see it:
To keep things fair for everyone, we ask that you:
Please treat these as conditions of taking part: if they aren’t met, we may not be able to progress your application.
And if a task does allow AI, we’ll always say so. We’re far more interested in how you think and work things through than a perfectly polished answer, and we’ll share a bit more on this in your interview invite if you move forward.
