Description

A classic mix of 3 & 4 bedroom family homes in a beautiful residential setting - From £187,995 To £225,995

Heritage Gate is a lovely development comprising 3 and 4 bedroom homes which form the perfect family setting. These beautiful homes benefit from a classic exterior with modern interiors and all include an exceptional standard of insulation and energy efficiency to ensure lower fuel bills. This superb development is located in the popular Town of Coatbridge which offers excellent local amenities and enviable transport links ideal for commuting.

Lifestyle

Heritage Gate is centrally positioned for the various amenities and attractions of Coatbridge, which is one of North Lanarkshire's larger towns, as evidenced by the presence of its own college and football club. With the neighbouring Faraday retail park offering a number of big-brand stores, Heritage Gate is also within walking distance of Coatbridge's main shopping hub, centred on the Quadrant shopping precinct and including smaller stores within the traditional buildings of neighbouring streets.

Out and about

The affluent Blairhill conservation district stands just to the north of Heritage Gate, while the area immediately south of this development has also seen swathes of modern homes being constructed in recent times. To the east, Coatbridge merges seamlessly with neighbouring Airdrie, allowing residents to benefit from the latter town's popular restaurants and bustling retail amenities.

These two conurbations contain a significant chunk of North Lanarkshire's total population, while only the village of Bargeddie and Drumpellier golf course separate Coatbridge from the eastern edge of Glasgow across the M73.

Having such a huge neighbour provides residents of Coatbridge with boundless resources, considering Glasgow's internationally acclaimed retail and entertainment amenities, not to mention dozens of celebrated parks and museums in every corner of the city.

Resident life

Heritage Gate stands within a triangular plot of land in the heart of Coatbridge. Train lines bound the development on every side, discreetly screened by woodland, and this separation from the surrounding environment generates a pleasingly secluded ambience across the estate, with no sense of being in the centre of a bustling town.

Pathways extend along the site's southern boundary, offering a perfect place for dog-walkers and fitness enthusiasts, as well as contributing to the peaceful ambience of this urban oasis.

This phase of development at Heritage Gate builds on the previous sold-out success of Barratt's activities here. The original development launch took place in 2004, when people camped on-site for 24 hours before the official start of sales, to secure their chosen plot.

Leisure facilities

Places of interest

There is plenty to do in Coatbridge for people of all ages. For many years, the Time Capsule leisure centre has been a centrepiece of the town's leisure facilities, comprising a swimming pool, ice rink and gym. More recently, the Showcase Leisure Park beside the A8 has become a magnet for families and children, centred on a large cinema but also incorporating a gaming complex, ten-pin bowling alley and various restaurants and bars.

The great outdoors can be enjoyed at Drumpellier Country Park, which stands on the western fringe of Coatbridge, nestled between a brace of natural lochs. Formerly a private estate, this 500-acre site gained country park status in the 1980s and is a popular location for picnics, nature trails and sunbathing alike.

Across town, the Summerlee Heritage Park offers a rather noisier way to spend an afternoon, with its evocative depictions of the area's social and industrial history. Alongside a new exhibition hall with interactive displays, it encompasses replications of an underground mine and workers' cottages from the 19th and 20th centuries, with Scotland's only working electric tramway also on-site.

Transport links

Bounded by the M73 and A8 trunk roads, much of Coatbridge's popularity stems from its location ten miles east of Glasgow city centre and 35 miles from Edinburgh. Plans are at an advanced stage to convert the "missing link" A8 into a motorway as it cuts past the southern border of Coatbridge, further reducing the travelling time to Scotland's capital. However, the current roads network is still enough to inspire envy among residents of many less-conveniently situated towns.

The convenience of Heritage Gate as a commuter location is typified by the train lines that lie beyond the development's boundaries in every direction, hidden behind mature trees but offering tremendous rail links with the wider area.

This triangular estate is within easy walking distance of three different train stations - Kirkwood, Whifflet and Coatbridge Central. It's possible to reach Glasgow Central from Kirkwood within 25 minutes, while Coatbridge's eponymous Sunnyside station lies on the Glasgow to Edinburgh route, whisking people into Haymarket in under three quarters of an hour.
