History
The Widmerpool Estate
It is thought that a manor house has been at Widmerpool since at least 1216 when Henricus de Diddisworth took the name Widemerpool to secure the estate for his family. His descendants remained Lords of the Manor until the 19th Century when the estate passed into the ownership of the Robertson Family who managed the estate of about four thousand acres, comprising seven farms and some thirty cottages, until the 1920s.
In 1871 Major George Coke Robertson decided to build the present Widmerpool Hall. He chose a new site in an elevated location within a short distance of the village, to take advantage of magnificent views to the church and over the surrounding countryside. In keeping with his aspirations for a grand county house, Major Robertson chose the architect Henry Clutton to oversee the development of the Hall.

About Manor Kingdom by Gladedale
Manor Kingdom is one of the most respected house builders in the UK. We pride ourselves on building homes of distinction, with an unfailing attention to even the smallest detail, this is the foundation of our business and it’s what we’ve been building on for the past fifteen successful years.
Right from the very beginning we respect the fact that the home we build shapes your life and we want it to be the very best life possible. That’s why - before the plans even begin – the location has to be just right. Whether it’s a picturesque country hideaway or a bustling city apartment, the setting comes first and our plans are heavily influenced by the environment our homes will find themselves in. That’s why you won’t see our homes everywhere, as the old adage goes: we’re about quality and not quantity.
Of course, the same can be said for our developments themselves and that’s why you’ll find fewer homes in our developments, all with more room to breathe. Stylish homes, built with care and finished to the highest specification, that’s our passion and it’s a passion shared by the many Manor Kingdom homeowners throughout the UK.
