Schools and education

Garforth is home to a variety of education establishments; including a renowned secondary school, primary schools and a vocational performing arts college. Garforth Academy, a secondary school and sixth form for pupils aged 11- 18 is located on Lidgett Lane, the standards attained in external examinations are very high, and teaching is generally very good with pockets of outstanding practice. The Academy integrates into the community on an on-going basis, with music, sports and drama events and a training centre for hair and beauty based on Main Street.

Garforth contains five primary schools, the closest to the development being East Garforth Primary School. The SLP College is a further education college located in Garforth, providing specialist vocational training in dance and performing arts. The college is accredited to the council for Dance Education and Training and one of the colleges selected to award the government Dance and Drama Awards.

There are several nurseries in the region and two excellent play centres for children.
