Leisure Facilities

Footpaths will be introduced to link the existing play area and improved existing pond to the north, giving residents of Kings Weald access to additional nearby Play Areas and clear views from Wealden Croft. Additional indigenous planting will be added to the retained trees along the river to Wealden Croft & Kilns Gate of Kings Weald to improve biodiversity and form an avenue of open space for residents to leisurely stroll along.

Other aspects include the introduction of a Community Hall, Market Square and Terrace. Sports Pitches, Play Areas, Ponds and a Nature Conservation Area with trail will also be created to form part of the South West section of Kings Weald, with Heritage Manor situated above.

Creating a natural, verdant setting for the new homes at Kings Weald, we plan for front gardens and apartment communal areas to be clearly defined by railings and/or hedging, while thoughtful design of additional garden boundaries will help create the character of this stunning new community.

Within Kings Weald, there are several shared areas and open spaces for the whole family to enjoy.Just minutes from residents doorsteps, the Nature Conservation Area will feature a number of manmade ponds, of varying depths, with range of wildlife which can be observed including dragonflies, damselflies, water beetles and birds. Areas of created woodland will add to the biodiverse area, with trees and shrubs providing food sources and nesting sites, as well as cover and refuge opportunities for local wildlife.

There are a number of policies in place to maintain the town’s high quality natural environment. This includes protecting areas of green open space, the connected network of green paths and cycle ways around the town known as the Green Circle, biodiversity and local green gaps also give a variety of environmental, social and economic benefits for residents. The Green Circle Network makes it possible to travel around and within the town without using cars as well as providing green corridors for wildlife.
