Local Information

Leisure Facilities

Regency Village is located in the idyllic market town of Wantage and is surrounded by unspoilt countryside.

Believed to have taken shape in Roman times, Wantage has flourished into a quaint town with the traditional market square at the centre. Steeped in history, Wantage boasts historic architecture from the 18th Century and a relaxed community atmosphere.

Situated in the centre of the Vale of the White Horse and at the foothills of the Berkshire Downs, Wantage is amidst a beautiful rural setting.

Just metres from your front door are vast areas of tranquil countryside with miles of bridle paths to explore such as the ancient Ridgeway National Trail.

Whether discovering by bicycle, walking, or horse riding this landscape provides sweeping distant views. There is also a stream running through the town to stroll by, or even sit awhile in Betjeman Millennium Park.

Local Shopping

The town has an array of unique shops, welcoming traditional pubs and a vast selection of culinary experiences at the many restaurants available.

For a thriving community there are schools for primary, secondary and further education, a library, the Adkin memorial hall, and a health and wellbeing centre.

The charming Parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul is the oldest building in Wantage and is still used today by the community.

The market square contains the famous statue of King Alfred and is bustling with activity all year round from unique shops and boutiques, the Wednesday and Saturday markets, Farmer’s markets, French markets, annual fairs and the Dickensian Evening which is held every December.

There is also a vibrant Arts festival in the summer.

These local events attract many residents and visitors into the heart of the community.
