Each homes is available on a shared ownership basis. This allows you to buy a share in the property value with a mortgage and deposit and pay a rent for the share you don’t own. We can sell shares between 25% and 75% in a properties market value depending upon your affordability so for example, if the combination of your borrowing power plus your deposit (typically 10% of the share value) was equal to 47% of a properties market value then that’s what you would buy, not the nearest 5% increment.
The aim of Shared Ownership is to enable you to buy outright in the future if you wish to do so. You can buy more shares after 12 months of ownership, eventually owning the property outright when you can afford it. The more you own the lower your rent will be so it’s in your interest to buy as much as you can when you can afford it.

Vela Homes is the group name for Housing Hartlepool and Tristar Homes.
Housing Hartlepool is a Registered Social Landlord which was formed in March 2004 to take over the ownership of the former council housing stock in Hartlepool following a positive ballot by tenants. The company manages around 7000 homes in Hartlepool and the surrounding villages.
