The Ridings is a development of 148 new homes on the Kibblesworth estate, just outside Gateshead. Lying just 5 miles from Gateshead Town Centre, the site comprises a range of two, three and four bedroom houses, with 54 available for outright sale and shared ownership and 13 for intermediate rent.
Working in partnership with Keelman Homes, a subsidiary of The Gateshead Housing Company, the new homes replace the 1940s prefabricated houses previously located on the site which had fallen below the Government’s Decent Homes Standard. These new homes are designed to complement the existing properties and 81 of these are available for existing residents to rent.
Kibblesworth is a former mining village located just outside the Birtley borough of Gateshead, which is overlooked by Antony Gormley's famous Angel of the North.
Houses on the development are yet to be put into a council tax bracket. The following charges are merely guidelines and are subject to change. Band A £1,066.69, Band B £1224.47, Band C £1422.25 and Band D £1600.04.

Leisure facilities
Kibblesworth is set amongst picturesque countryside and offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor pursuits. The Derwent Walk Country Park is nearby and features woodlands, meadows, wetlands, riverside and reclaimed industrial sites. The Derwent walk in an 18km long track that is popular with walkers and cycling enthusiasts.
The village of Beamish is around three miles away and is home to Beamish Museum, an open air museum which replicates North East life at the turn of the 20th century, complete with a Victorian town, a colliery village and vintage tramway.
Golfers are well served, with Whickham Golf Club, Beamish Park Golf Club and South Moor Golf Club in close proximity. Birtley Leisure Centre is also nearby offering a fitness gym, soft play, a sports hall and outdoor sports fields.
Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland are both easily accessible by bus, train or car, and offer all manner of leisure and cultural amenities such as historic buildings, museums, shops and markets, live music venues and cinemas.
Local shopping
The village of Kibblesworth has a small convenience store that can cater for everyday amenities and a post office. There are many villages nearby with small shops as well.
Birtley is around 2.5 miles away and offers much in the way of shopping, with gift stores, florists, banks, DIY stores and Dobbie’s Garden Centre. Large supermarkets like ASDA, Sainsbury’s and ALDI are also a short drive away.
Further afield, the Gateshead’s MetroCentre is just under 5 miles away and is home to hundreds of High Street names such as Topman, Marks & Spencer, HMV and Boots as well as an amusement arcade and 12 screen Odeon Cinema with IMAX. There is also a large Ikea nearby, perfect for stylishly decorating your new home.
There is a pub in Kibblesworth which serves food, whilst there is a selection of excellent pubs and restaurants at nearby Beamish. Chester-le-Street is around 5 miles away and is home to many restaurants with cuisines from all over the world.

Transport links
The Ridings is less than two miles from the A1 which runs north to Newcastle upon Tyne making it ideal for commuting into the City Centre. The A1 runs south to Leeds and connects to the rest of the UK’s motorway network.
There are several bus services that travel from nearby Birtley to the surrounding towns, the most notable being the 21 bus service, operating 24 hours a day to Newcastle Chester-le-Street and Durham.
