Carrongrove is an exciting upcoming development located on the banks of River Carron in the outskirts of Denny, near Falkirk. Inspired by the tranquil settings, our rural design portfolio will include a selection of stunning one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as three- and four-bedroom homes and versatile four-bedroom townhouses.

Nestled in in picturesque and leafy surroundings, Carrongrove has been designed around the iconic Category B listed Carrongrove House, formerly a central building of Carrongrove Paper Mill which was operational for over 200 years until its closure in 2005. Carrongrove enjoys the best of both worlds, with its excellent links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling, as well as to all the local amenities.

We are excited to deliver this unique new development, with the first homes now available for Reservation or Early Bird Option.

Home styles
Rannoch – 4 bedroom townhouse over 3 storeys
Etive – 4 bedroom terrace over 3 storeys
Lismore – 3 bedroom semi-detached or terraced
Oronsay – 2 bedroom terraced
Raasay – 2 bedroom apartment
Uist – 2 bedroom apartment

In a later phase of the development, the B listed Carrongrove House at the centre of the site will be restored and converted into luxury 1- to 3-bed apartments.

Located between Stoneywood and Fankerton on the Southern banks of the river Carron, Carrongrove has a historical past as the site of the former Carrongrove Paper Mill, which was one of the most important paper factories in the area during the 19th and 20th centuries and which closed in 2005, marking the end of two centuries of paper production in the area. Carrongrove House, the former mill owner’s house, will be restored and renovated as part of our site design.

The community of Carrongrove will enjoy an enviable location in the central belt with beautiful rural surroundings and easy commuter links to Stirling and Edinburgh via the M9 and Glasgow via the M80 / M876 just a few minutes away. Nearby Falkirk and Denny provide a wealth of local amenities including retail, recreational facilities and abundant green space. A large-scale project is currently underway for the regeneration of Denny, which will add public artwork and a redeveloped town square and library, plus improved pedestrian access.

About Developer

The founders of our Company had been housebuilders during Victoria's long reign. They were however engaged not just narrowly in construction but were importers of the raw material required for their business.

By the early 1900's, the Mactaggarts and Mickels had come together and with others, who would later establish their own shorter lived building companies, were constructing tenements in the West End of Glasgow. They had also built in London's Portland Place but their Glasgow tenements are now locally recognised as the pinnacle of achievement in tenemental construction.

The opportunities offered by the government to be involved in a housing boom following the First World War were not missed. In the four years from 1922, in Glasgow and in Lanarkshire, the Mactaggarts and Mickels in partnership built over 3000 houses for local authorities before registering as a Limited company in 1926.

The years from 1939 to 1945 were not uneventful and were occupied with work for the war effort. Also, in 1943 the Mactaggarts severed their connection with the Company and since that time Mactaggart & Mickel Limited has become entirely a concern of the Mickel family.

We support many local groups and institutions. Major recent events in which we have been involved were Glasgow's Garden Festival where we designed the 'Broom Milk Bar' as our contribution. During the Year of Culture a number of items from our archive were exhibited at 'Glasgow's Glasgow'.

The family and personal links we have forged grow ever stronger and we take pride in the long service of our workforce. At a time when other builders sub-contract we prefer to employ tradesmen whom we know and who, in turn, know our methods and standards.

The Company strives by its own efforts to maintain its place as the local housebuilder with the highest reputation for quality and service to customers, and have several awards for design and quality from the NHBC to the What House Gold Awards for the best luxury development in Britain.

We at Mactaggart & Mickel firmly believe that our innate ability to do things is well founded in our sound experience and achievements in house building which has patently defied detrimental change. Indeed the story of Mactaggart & Mickel is a true testament to innovation and tradition.
