Junction 10 of the M23 is around three and a half miles away, and there are local bus services linking Crawley Down with Crawley, East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells from bus stops just a few minutes walk from the development. A disused railway line, the Worth Way, now offers a very pleasant cycling and walking route to both Crawley and East Grinstead.

Arts & Entertainment
There are multi-screen cinemas in both Crawley and East Grinstead, and the programme of the Hawth theatre in Crawley includes a vast range of live entertainment from West End shows to drama, comedy and music. East Grinstead has a lively community arts centre, housed in a purpose built theatre, that presents touring shows as well as local productions, and Crawley Down Village Hall is used for dances and other events.

Leisure & Recreation
The area around Crawley Down is rich in opportunities for outdoor activities ranging from the pleasant local parks to fishing, sailing and other watersports at the Ardingly and Weir Wood reservoirs. The K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley has swimming, gym and sports facilities, and the Royal Oak, a child-friendly village pub a few minutes away, offers home made food and live entertainment.

Education & Health
Crawley Down’s popular primary school forms one of the principal focal points of village life. Children from Crawley Down Village C of E Primary normally move on to Imberhorne Secondary in East Grinstead, a large comprehensive that received an ‘outstanding’ assessment in its recent Osfted inspection. Crawley Down Health Centre houses a full-time practice with a staff of five GPs and nursing support, and there is also a dental surgery in the village.

Shopping
The village shopping area close to Burleigh Wood includes a post office, newsagent, pharmacy and general store, greengrocer, butcher, Co-op store and delicatessen. Crawley and East Grinstead both offer a wider choice, and the Bluewater shopping and leisure centre at Dartford is just 45 minutes away.

Driving directions

From the M23

Leave the M23 at junction 10 and join the A264 following signs for East Grinstead. Stay on the A264 through the first roundabout then at the Duke’s Head roundabout take the third exit to join the B2028, signposted for Haywards Heath. One and a quarter miles on, immediately after crossing a bridge over an old railway line, turn left into Grange Road, signposted for Crawley Down Village. After quarter of a mile, as the road curves sharply to the left, turn right into Kiln Road. The entrance to Burleigh Woods is straight ahead.



From East Grinstead

Leave East Grinstead by the A22 London Road, then after passing the Felbridge Hotel move into the left hand lane and at the traffic lights take the left fork, signposted for Crawley and Gatwick Airport. After 300 yards, take the left fork again to enter Crawley Down Road. Carry on for one and three quarter miles, as the road becomes Felbridge Road then Hophurst Hill, then after passing the 30mph signs at the edge of the village take the next left into Burleigh Way. Take the fourth left turn into Woodland Drive, and the entrance to Burleigh Woods is on the left, 300 yards on.
