Durrington is a large village and as such provides several shops for dayto- day needs, two pubs, two churches, and recreational facilities that include an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre. .
The village is set close to the River Avon, within the eastern area of
Salisbury Plain and only 2 miles north of Amesbury. This attractive
small market town offers a greater range of amenities including shops, restaurants, pubs and inns, whilst it is also home to the brand new £250 million Solstice Park. Located by the A303, this will offer huge opportunities for business and commerce, alongside
added leisure facilities for the local community. Stonehenge is just 2 miles from Amesbury and Durrington Walls and Woodhenge are also important prehistoric sites close to Avon Fields. Transport links
Avon Fields is located off the A345 Salisbury to
Swindon Road, on the western side of Durrington.
Swindon is 36 miles away to the north, from where the
M4 can be joined for fast journeys east and west.
Salisbury is around 10 miles to the south and from
here the A354 to Weymouth, A338 to Bournemouth
and A36 to Southampton can all be accessed. A mile
to the south of Durrington the A345 has a junction
with the A303 trunk road, going west into Devon
and east to Andover. Beyond here it joins the M3
for journeys to the M25 or London, the latter being
around 80 miles from Avon Fields.
Durrington is well served by buses, with regular
services to Amesbury and Salisbury.
For rail travellers, the stations at Salisbury and Grateley
provide regular services to London Waterloo, with
fastest journey times of 1 hour 24 minutes and 1 hour
17 minutes.
