The owner's family has lived at the farm where the property The Horseyards is situated for a 100 years. The name derives from the previous use of this mellow brick and timber building, before the Second World War up to 15 working horses, including Suffolk Punches, were stabled here along with a harness room and two blacksmith workshops. The farm has an ancient documented history dating back a thousand years.
This building can be traced back to the 18th and early 19th centuries as detailed in the Melford Hall estate book compiled in the mid 19th century. The farm is shown on a rare 16th century map at Long Melford Hall and mentioned prior to that when it was known as 'The Lavenhams", a manor on the estate of Lady Alice de Bryene of Acton Hall in the 15th century.

James has worked both in England and Central Europe and it is his appreciation of period and contemporary architecture that underlies the success of the designs and building practises. James produces CAD drawings in both 3D and 2D, therefore the client has a clear idea of the concept, which can be prepared into full plan sets to take through planning if necessary and onto construction if required - a start to finish, job done!
