There are several cafes, bistros, restaurants and public bars and lounges in Fortrose, Avoch and Fortrose.

Inverness is the nearest biggest centre where a wide range of bars, nightclubs, restaurants and coffee shops available.

There are also cafes, bars and local hotels available in Dingwall.

Attractions
Chanonry Point between Fortrose and Rosemarkie is one of the best spots in the UK to view Bottlenose Dolphins from land. The dolphins are often visible particularly on an incoming tide when they play and fish in the strong currents. Other wildlife, including porpoises and grey seals, can also regularly be spotted. Dolphin watching boat trips also run from Cromarty and Avoch.

In the heart of Fortrose is Cathedral Square, home to the red stone remains of Fortrose Cathedral, built in the 13th century. A free attraction, it is available all year round to view.

As Fortrose and the surrounding area are rich in history, the area also boasts several museums including Hugh Miller’s Cottage, the 17th birthplace of Hugh Miller, stonemason, geologist, author, journalist and editor. Groam House Museum is a Pictish centre in nearby Rosemarkie and Cromarty Courthouse is based at Church Street, Cromarty.

Other attractions in the Black Isle area include the Glen Ord Distillery in Muir of Ord and the Black Isle Brewery in Munlochy, both open for visitors to tour.

Other attractions within the local area include the child friendly facilities of the Black Isle Wildlife Park at Drumsmittal, North Kessock, Robertsons Children’s Farm and Larder in Beauly, and the Highland Museum of Childhood at the Old Station building in Strathpeffer.

Attractions are also available within a relatively short drive at Loch Ness, in Inverness and Aviemore.

Sports, Leisure and Culture
Black Isle Leisure Centre, Deans Road, Fortrose. The centre has modern facilities including a multi-purpose sports hall and fitness suite. The sports hall accommodates a variety of indoor sports including football, badminton, gymnastics, trampolining, volleyball and more.

The centre’s fitness is one of the up to date facilities in the Highland area. The individual weight stations have been designed to cover every major muscle group for that all-over body tone, as well as eight cardio-vascular units for exercising the heart and lungs. Fortrose Leisure Centre takes part in the discounted High Life Card Scheme. Group fitness classes at the centre include body attack, spinning, body balance and body vive.

Dingwall also has its own leisure centre including swimming pool and gym.

Golfers can play at the highly acclaimed Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club or at Muir of Ord Golf Club, one of the oldest clubs in the north of Scotland.

There are also many opportunities for walking and hiking in the area, including the popular Fairy Glen walk.

From Inverness go north on the A9 over the Kessock Bridge for approx 1.5 miles until you reach the right-turn sign, posted to the village of Munlochy on the B9161. Turn right at the T-junction onto the A832 to Avoch. On reaching Fortrose, follow the Tulloch Homes directional signage. Turn right at the police station towards the golf course, our showhome is about 500 meters along the road.
