There are a range of gyms, sports centres and swimming pools in Inverness, including Bannatynes at Inshes Retails Park, DW Sports and Fitness Club at Inverness Retail Park and Inverness Leisure and Aquadome, the largest leisure facility in the Highlands, at Bught Park. A forested ridge, it has two marked routes. One is a fairly level circuit around the hill, the second is an ascent to a vitrified fort on the summit.

North Kessock is a famous spot for watching bottlenose dolphins, which are resident in the Moray Firth. The Dolphin and Seal Centre, just north of the village is run by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. It is located in the Tourist Information car park, north of the Kessock bridge off the A9.

Dolphin watching is also popular at Chanonry Point at Fortrose.
