For many years there has been business activity at the end of Mill Lane, in Lopen. Originally a Mill, and then, during the last war, a Flax production mill was built. In the 70s, Lopen Feed Mill began producing animal feed. In the 90s Buckeye International produced incubators for UK and export markets.
In 2002 Lopen Storage Company opened and was then rebranded as Beehive Self Storage in 2012, and has grown into the leading Self Storage Company in the area. It now has a branch in Child Okeford near Blandford and a new branch soon to open in Taunton.
Lopen Business Park has flourished and has attracted a number of successful businesses occupying our suite of offices and business units . These businesses benefit from working in a beautiful environment, with easy access to the A303 and M5. They are diverse and vary in size from the small internet trader employing 1 person, to a Steel Fabrication Company based here with a team of 15.
Richard Stone, the owner of Lopen Business Park, has taken much care in developing the site with great awareness to the surrounding area. He has ensured the site is well-maintained with good signage, but with particular priority given to security, providing a business environment that is a pleasant and safe place to work. The Business Park covers an area of 12 acres and straddles two parishes, Lopen and Merriott.
