Blue i Property Services, Derby
Blue i Property Services was formed by myself, Malcolm Thacker, to try and get back to basics in the property management and maintenance markets by offering a personal service! I believe this aspect of these joint markets has all but disappeared in the struggle for efficiency at any cost (usually the landlords and tenants) and the belief that bigger is better.
Well, having been involved with property management and maintenance since 1994, I remember when I had time to talk to people and half the ‘problems’ between landlords and tenants were sorted out there and then.
Nowadays it seems that frustration at the apparent lack of action (on both sides it has to be said, tenants waiting ages for jobs to be done, landlords waiting ages for slow rent payments, ring any bells?) sometimes causes a minor problem to become a major issue, all for the lack of someone being bothered to do something.
In order to achieve this aim I split my time between the office and being ‘out and about’ carrying out any small repairs that need doing, therefore talking to tenants directly, in their homes, not just on the end of a phone.
I feel that this shift in emphasis will be of benefit to Landlords, Tenants and, if I’ve got it right, me!
