Established in 1990 as a third generation family business originally dating back to the 1950's, 'Martin Treasure' began as an alternative to the corporate 'dumbing down' of estate agency which took place in the 1980's.
Considerably expanded in recent years, the agency now has its own lettings and property management division, established in 2003 and handling property on behalf of both ‘private landlords and ‘investment’ clients. We handle dozens of enquiries each week from tenants, all of whom are referenced before being selected for any of our properties. As a firm, we go from strength to strength but aim to remain ‘small enough to care, but big enough to count!’
Linked to 'Rightmove.co.uk' (recently listed on the Sunday Times 100 'must see' web sites), we now enjoy nationwide coverage and a huge enquiry rate. In September 2003, details of our properties were requested by over eighty thousand viewers!!
Born and raised in St Albans, Martin Treasure worked for independent and corporate firms (such as General Accident Property Services) before opening his own business in December 1990. It is a source of some amusement that many of the competitors of the 1990's - who claimed to be the 'saviours' of estate agency - have long since ceased trading. Names such as Prudential Property Services, Halifax, Nationwide, General Accident, Bristol and West, TSB and Black Horse have all faded from the estate agency scene whilst a 'small' independent agency like 'Martin Treasure' has flourished.
Simply because we know our job better and because we have more to gain and more to lose, we put our clients first.
