    Property Auctions offer a fast and effective way of buying or selling a property or piece of land without some of the drawbacks of private treaty sales or the tender process. There has been a noticeable increase in the number of normal, everyday house buyers and sellers who prefer the high degree of certainty, the reduced timescales of 4 weeks from start of marketing to exchange of contracts and the complete transparency that an auction brings with it.

    Our typical clients are private individuals who have a property in need of modernisation or are dealing with an elderly relative or probate property, landlords who are selling their existing Buy To Let property with either the current tenants in place or when they have just moved out and anyone with a building plot, paddock, garage or disused building.

    Strakers are one of the leading and most experienced regional auctioneers in the South West, specialising in the sale of residential property, commercial premises and land with auction venues in Swindon, Devizes and Bath covering Newbury to Cirencester, Cheltenham to Salisbury and everything in-between. We are holding 8 auctions across our three venues throughout 2015 and hope to improve on last year's figure of 88% of Lots sold equating to £21M worth of land and property.

    Charlie Doel - Associate Director
    Charlie is the son of a local farmer who ditched his wellies in favour of estate agency in 2000. Four years later a chance meeting led to Strakers offering him the opportunity to work in their recently formed auction department. After a few years of tutelage under auctioneer Geoffrey Taylor, Charlie became the department manager and has expanded both the catchment area and client base. Charlie is NFOPP qualified for the auctioneers' technical award and is a member of the National Association for Valuers & Auctioneers. He recently entered a national competition for junior auctioneers and is always willing to help out with the gavel at charity auctions. When not working he enjoys spending time with his 3 daughters and playing cricket and hockey for local clubs.

    Rachael Watkins Auction Negotiator
    Rachael joined Strakers in 2013 as a sales negotiator in the Chippenham office whilst also studying at University. On gaining her degree she went to run a chalet in Morzine, France for 6 months and enjoyed skiing and snowboarding in between cooking and hosting! Upon Rachael's return she was passionate about coming back to the property world and is eager to gain as much experience as possible in the Auction department! Rachael deals with the sales side of the auction process and handles the viewings and feedback and helps potential buyers with enquiries. Snowboarding and cooking are her passions outside of work.

    Stuart Collar-Brown Consultant
    Stuart is a particular specialist in the investment and development markets having sold land and properties throughout the UK & Ireland in his 15 year career. He is well known and respected in the auction world and boasts the coveted title of NAVA Auctioneer of the Year 2014. Having originally trained as an Estate Agent progressing from Trainee Negotiator to Branch Manager in Bath before "switching codes" to auctions in 2006, Stuart has a wide range of specialist expertise across all aspects of the property market having worked in Bath, Wiltshire and more recently, Central London and works closely with the other departments in Strakers. Stuart now concentrates on sourcing land and development opportunities for clients throughout the West Country and he enjoys travel and fine dining with his wife Victoria, who is also in property and they are proud parents to their little girl, Parker May who arrived in July 2015.       The service is excellent, timely and truly helpful. Removing much of the worry and stress that may otherwise been left for us to deal with on our own.

      I would say we were surprised that we were updated and consulted as well as we were, so often people say these things but they are not forthcoming. 

      As this is often a service required out of need rather than choice it came as a bounus to have been made to feel if not "happy" about having to sell our late parents house, then reassured and somewhat comforted by our treatment, which was made easier than it might otherwise have been. Both Ann Freeman and Stuart Collar-Brown were informative without being "pushy", making every effort to be helpful beyond necessary, and were not only efficient and pleasant to deal with but very human too!
