Ryde is the Island’s largest town and has passenger and car ferry links to the mainland at Portsmouth and Southsea. It has a number of fine Victorian and Georgian houses, many of which have been restored, together with the Victorian Arcade housing a complex of shops and boutiques. This busy town has a good variety of shops and schools, together with many tourist attractions, including a Theatre, Ice-Rink, Bowling Alley, Pier, etc. It also has excellent beaches with safe, shallow bathing and is ideal for families. On the outskirts there are some modern housing estates, but the majority of the property is older style, with a large number of flat conversions, giving generous accommodation at reasonable cost. It is ideal for those wishing to commute to the mainland, with the Hovercraft service providing a seven minute link to Southsea.

From Ryde seafront, proceed along The Esplanade passing the Bowling Alley, Ice Rink and Hovertravel on your right hand side, turn left into George Street and continue to the top of the hill branching off to your right into Cross Street, proceed along to the ‘zebra crossing’ taking the left fork and continue round into the High Street.
