    Whites' success in Salisbury has been built on very firm foundations stretching over many years since Harry White formed the business in 1957. Whites have strong Lettings and Sales Departments which pride themselves on honest professional advice, marketing and feedback. 

    Whilst Salisbury has grown and changed over the years, many of its traditions have not.   The character of Salisbury revolves around the Cathedral and the Magna Carta.  With the 800th Anniversary  of the Magna Carta  being celebrated throughout  2015, Whites are expecting to find the year challenging but equally rewarding.   Here at Whites we have tried to maintain traditional values with contemporary, modern marketing. We are extremely excited to announce the launch of On The Market this year which we feel will complement our marketing ability and perhaps change the face of the industry over the next decade.

    Read about some of our Landlord Services...

    Without obligation or charge we are happy to visit your property and advise you on the legal and practical aspects of letting and your obligations as a landlord with regard to gas safety certificates, electrical testing, smoke alarms, furniture fire regulations and the statutory Tenancy Deposit Scheme. As part of our service we can then:Agree the type of tenant you are looking for, take details and photographs to advertise the property in local newspapers and on the web.

    We will also assist in the following;

    • Arrange accompanied viewings, assess prospective tenants and take up references including a credit reference check.


    • Prepare a legally binding Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement at the start of the tenancy and serve Statutory Notices as required.


    • Arrange for an Inventory and Schedule of Condition with a full set of colour photographs.


    • Collect first month's rent and dilapidations deposit, set up a standing order for the monthly payment of rent and produce monthly statements.


    • Carry out regular property inspections.


    • Deal with routine repairs and day-to-day maintenance and arrange for annual servicing of gas and electrical appliances.


    • Re-advertise the property before the end of the tenancy to


    • help avoid periods of time when the property is not let and carry out a detailed move out inspection.

    Marcus Shepherd - Director
    I qualified as a chartered surveyor and joined the company in 1993 with a focus on building up the Letting & Management department. It has grown successfully/organically over the years and we have become a recognised force locally with a large portfolio of properties ranging from large county houses to small flats in the town centre - residential property has always been of professional interest and we cover them all! I head a busy and thriving department and over the years we have encountered just about every possible scenario that could occur with people and their houses - and it has had its moments! Experience and enthusiasm is the key and if we can maintain positive feedback from both Landlords and Tenants, we know we have the right approach. Outside work, my family is my focus - I have been married to Jo for 16 years, we have 3 children still at school and live in a village west of Salisbury. Together we enjoy an outdoor life in the countryside with lots of pets and keep a small boat for the fishing trips and exploring the Cornish coast in the summer

    Martin Robson - Property Manager
    I joined Whites in 2013 after gaining experience locally in property management. I enjoy working as part of an established and dedicated team at Whites. The role is interesting and varied as I get involved in differing aspects of the lettings lifecycle on a daily basis. Outside of work I enjoy travelling, spending time with friends and family. I also like the outdoors and keeping fit.

    Glenda Privett - Administrator
    I have been at Whites for 28 years originally working in the sales department and latterly in rentals in an administration role, I was brought up in Salisbury and have good local knowledge of the area. I also enjoy the challenges and variety of my work and love working as part of a team. Out of work I enjoy spending time with family, walking my dog, fitness and am also a member of an air rifle target club taking part in competitions and was voted most improved shooter of the region 2014.

    Sandie Buxcey - Administrator
    Sandie has worked in all aspects of estate agency for 23 years and has devoted 15 of these to Whites. Sandie has great organisational skills, is a whiz on the computer and communicates well with all our clients and buyers. She loves dealing with people from all walks of life and enjoys the buzz provided by our busy office where no two days are the same. On her days off Sandie keeps herself fit and has run her first couple of 10kms in Bournemouth and the more challenging terrain of Salisbury Plain.

    I started at Whites in 2010 helping out with viewings during holiday periods after returning to this country from Spain where my daughter was born and went to school; we currently live in Salisbury. I now work three days a week as an administrative assistant/typist in the Lettings Department and I also type property particulars for the Sales Department. I have a very interesting job working with some lovely people and I like the variety of being able to work in both departments. Away from work I very much enjoy walking, generally keeping fit and socialising with my friends.

    Lindsay Caldwell -  Inventory Administrator
    I have been the Inventory Administrator for Whites for 8 years and my role is to prepare new inventories, check out properties at the end of tenancies ensuring that all properties are in a clean and orderly state for a new tenancy to commence. This involves liaising with Tenants and Landlords to resolve any issues should they arise which includes negotiating dilapidations and instructing Contractors to carry out works that are agreed by either the Landlord or the Tenant. In my spare time I breed Welsh Ponies and Cobs which my husband and I show at national level in breed, ridden and carriage driving classes. I am also a Panel Judge and judge at all levels. If there is any time over I enjoy cross country skiing.

    Anna Churchland - Accounts Manager
    I have been the Accounts Manager at Whites for nearly 7 years and manage the day to day running of the Client and Office Accounts. My role is a very busy one and predominantly involves interaction with Landlords, Tenants and Contractors, making sure that everyone pays and gets paid on time. I apparently "break the mould" for someone who works in Accounts, so I assume my firm but friendly approach works! I love working here especially as I like to be busy and no two days are ever the same. When I am not at work I spend time socialising with my family and friends. My greatest achievement in life is being a Mum to my two grown up children and now a Granny to my very beautiful Granddaughter.

      Having decided to ask Whites to handle the above property, We have been delighted with the service provided so far. Our main reason for choosing Whites in the first place was that they well known a long established Family business in Salisbury.

      The attention to detail so far has been exemplary, and we have been guided through the various steps required in a clear and precise manor. All matters arising from the letting out of the property have been handled in such a way that we have been able to relax that everything that needed to be was being carried out on our behalf.

      Finally we have found all members of staff to be friendly and cheerful at all times and we would not hesitate to recommend Whites to our friend in the future
