Most of the sales in Cumbria over the past year were terraced properties which on average sold for £130,838. Semi-detached properties had an average sold price of £172,686 and detached properties averaged at £300,926.
Cumbria, with an overall average price of £190,453, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby Greater Manchester (£191,525), but was more expensive than Lancashire (£166,111) and Merseyside (£168,767). The most expensive area within Cumbria was Grasmere (£556,612) and the cheapest was Cleator (£101,307).
In the past year house prices in Cumbria were 6% up on the year before and 9% up on 2015 when they averaged at £175,413.
