Most of the sales in Leicestershire over the past year were detached properties which on average sold for £295,529. Semi-detached properties had an average sold price of £170,744 and terraced properties averaged at £142,549.

Leicestershire, with an overall average price of £202,228 was more expensive than nearby Nottinghamshire (£169,624), but was cheaper than Rutland (£285,922) and Northamptonshire (£216,776). The most expensive area within Leicestershire was Newtown Linford (£634,234) and the cheapest was Aylestone (£135,960).

In the past year house prices in Leicestershire were 4% up on the year before and 12% up on 2007 when they averaged at £180,650.
