Most of the sales in Whitby over the past year were flats which on average sold for £125,395. Terraced properties had an average sold price of £160,235 and semi-detached properties averaged at £186,717.

Whitby, with an overall average price of £168,917 was cheaper than nearby Briggswath (£351,278), Sandsend (£303,083) and Robin Hoods Bay (£226,383).

In the past year house prices in Whitby were 6% down on the year before and 9% down on 2008 when they averaged at £185,311.
