Is the UK’s most unusual garden?

weird garden

At just 30ft wide and three quarters of a mile long, The Gables in Alne’s garden could be the most unusual garden in the UK.

The strange cottage garden is situated on what once was a private railway (hence it’s long, narrow shape) and is now a flourishing garden that takes its current owners around half an hour to get from one end of the garden and back.

Its present owners have made good use of the abnormal space; the garden includes a patio, pond, barbeque area, green house, workshop, paddocks and a wildlife area. If all that wasn’t enough there are also a few caravans that are used as storage and potting areas.

The house that accompanies the patch is almost as charming and individual as the garden and is on the market for £340,000. The former railway workers’ cottage, situated in North Yorkshire, comes complete with 2 double bedrooms and a light and airy conservatory to make the most of the far reaching countryside views (and the extended garden).
