Rugby star praises stay in Italy property

Friday, October 9th, 2009
Former England rugby union captain Lawrence Dallagio has spoken of his love of the Italy holiday destination of Lake Como, calling it a "magical setting".

The country as a whole has special significance for the player, as his father is Italian - but also, he and his wife were married by the lake which Dallagio noted makes the destination even more important to him.

Mr Dallagio praised the standard of Italy property around the lake and also suggested that for Brits visiting the area around Lake Como for the first time, hiring a car and exploring the "lovely little towns" in the region could be ideal.

And foodies planning a trip to an Italy property on Lake Como could be "spoilt for choice" over the range of cuisine on offer, said the rugby star.

Lake Como is known for attracting the rich and famous to its shores, with Hollywood star George Clooney owning an Italy property in the area.

Bollywood star heads to Italy property for birthday

Monday, October 5th, 2009
Bollywood film star Gauri Khan is planning a quiet birthday in Italy this year and will head to the country with just a few close friends and family in tow.

Ms Khan will be 40 on Thursday (October 8th) and reports suggest that she left India on Friday evening to head for an Italy property to celebrate her big day.

Usually, the star throws a large party in Mannat to celebrate her birthday but this year chose to head to Europe for an altogether more low-key affair.

Mid Day reported that before deciding on a holiday to Rome for her birthday, the star also considered London, Dubai and the US, according to a source cited by the website - which could have seen her stay in a Florida property in the Sunshine State.

The source said that the Bollywood star wished to remain anonymous on her upcoming birthday, which could suggest that for those wanting peace and quiet, a holiday to an Italy property is the ideal break.

Italy property treat for X Factor finalists

Friday, October 2nd, 2009
Reaching the final stages of this year’s X Factor competition has brought an added bonuses for six lucky acts this year - a trip to judge Louis Walsh’s luxury Italy property.

Louis usually takes his charges to his Irish estate for the ‘judges houses’ stage of the competition, where six acts are whittled down to the three who will participate in the live shows, but this year his stunning Lake Como Italy property awaited the chosen ones.

The acts will have little time to take advantage of the sunshine lifestyle offered by the famously beautiful Lake Como region, however, as they will spend their time at the Italy property undergoing a series of intense auditions.

Boyzone star and solo artist Ronan Keating will also be on hand to help decide which of Louis’ groups will be returning from the Italy property with a smile on their face or tears in their eyes.

Last year fellow judge Cheryl Cole took her final six - which included eventual winner Alexandra Burke - to a French property in Cannes for the penultimate round of auditions.

Damon loves Clooney Italy property

Thursday, October 1st, 2009
Money may not buy you happiness but it can certainly help you make friends, it seems - especially if you happen to be a Hollywood icon with a luxury Italy property.

Matt Damon, star of the Bourne Identity franchise, has revealed the secret to his long-established friendship with George Clooney, which it seems has less to do with the latter’s famous charm and more to do with his stunning Italy property.

Damon told Parade.com: "George has this beautiful place in Italy where he brings all of his friends and he’s an amazingly generous person.

"As a friend of George, what you really need to do is try and stay on his list because he’s got an incredible life that he shares with all his friends."

However, while Clooney’s Italy property may impress his equally famous friend, it seems Damon is less than taken with the former ER star’s gambling abilities.

He also told the website that on a recent trip to Vegas, Clooney succeeded in losing 25 straight blackjack hands.

Gorgeous George’s Italy property is located on the shores of Lake Como, which is world-renowned for its beautiful natural landscape.

Secure the best money deals for your Italy property trip

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009
Italy property owners could pick up some handy hints from top tips just issued in relation to foreign money transfers.

Homeowners that travel to their Italy property regularly enough to have opened an overseas bank account may find charges vary greatly when it comes to transferring pounds into euros.

They may therefore wish to pay attention to new advice from the Telegraph and shop around for the best foreign money transfer rates.

For amounts of less than £5,000, the newspaper recommends employing an established bank’s transfer system instead of an internet-based service, as such firms are not yet regulated.

It suggests deals from Barclays, Lloyds and HSBC, where clients pay between £10 and £30, plus a commission of approximately two per cent on top of the exchange rate and the receiving bank’s own charge.

However, Italy property owners transferring very small sums of money may want to consider PayPal, which, the newspaper states, charges just 20 pence per transaction, plus 3.9 per cent of the transaction value.

PayPal is currently available in 190 markets and has 75 million active accounts.

Italy property may benefit from business travel

Monday, September 28th, 2009
Italy property owners may be interested in recent figures showing the number of staff employed in the business travel industry is on the rise.

A growing number of business travel management companies are recruiting additional temporary staff in order to deal with the travel needs of UK customers, according to Advantage Business Travel Centres.

Norman Gage, director of business travel at Advantage Business Travel Centres, said: "We have two judgements [of business levels]: revenue and tickets issued.

"What we have seen in August, for the first time this year, [is that] the tickets issued in August this year was better than the tickets issued last year."

The increasing number of travel tickets being sold could be of benefit to those with a rental investment in an Italy property, as Mr Gage claims it could indicate that some agents believe a recovery in the business travel market is imminent.

Earlier this month American Express reported that the European hotel industry is picking up, with average daily rates increasing in 24 out of the 49 European cities studied, in what may be another positive sign for Italy property investors.

Italy property hits the heights in August poll

Monday, September 14th, 2009
A growing number of buyers are catching the Italy property bug it seems, with a landslide increase in interest identified by an August search list.

A 25 per cent increase in online searches for Italy property was noted by the Primelocation International Search Index last month, making it one of the three most popular locations for those seeking a place in the sun in Europe.

Ann Wright, International Development Manager of Primelocation International, told easier.com: "Italy has a wide appeal offering everything from the coastal retreats of Tuscany and the Lakes to the fashion houses and designer stores of Milan.

"With property prices in the country remaining more stable than those in the UK […] the prospect of purchasing here has become an increasingly attractive option."

Italy property now accounts for six per cent of all online international searches and sits just behind French property and Spanish property in terms of popularity among those hunting their dream home online, the website reports.

The Tuscany region includes the stunning potential Italy property locations of Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and Arezzo.

Short breaks increase possible for Italy property

Thursday, September 10th, 2009
Those owning Italy property may find booking trends for their holiday home altering following new research showing Brits are changing their holiday habits.

Two weeks in a Tuscany Italy property may well be usurped by a short vacation in Venice for many tourists, according to research from Visa Europe which shows Brits are taking an increasing number of mini-breaks.

Frances Tuke, spokeswoman for the Association of British Travel Agents said: "People are booking slightly shorter holidays and that has been a trend for a 14 night to ten night break."

However, Italy property owners should not worry that their bookings chart will be left bare as a result of shortened holidays, the organisation states.

Ms Tuke adds: "Ninety per cent of people who went on holiday last year went on holiday this year [and] there are still a lot of people taking overseas holidays too."

The Visa Europe study showed that 24 per cent of those surveyed who would normally book a two-week summer break have opted for a mini-vacation this year.

Couple catch Italy property renovation bug

Thursday, July 30th, 2009
An Italy property renovation project designed to create a dream home has turned into a new way of life for one couple.

Dan Blagg from Dover, Delaware, US and his Italian partner Francesco Bianchini moved to a hilltop town in Umbria in 2003 with the intention of creating their perfect Italy property, only to discover they wanted to keep going once it was finished, the New Yorker reports.

The couple then sold their farmhouse-style Italy property, east of Todi, for a profit, moving on to a two-floor ruin with an original Roman wall in the same town.

Mr Blagg tells the newspaper: ‘We were blown away by the space and the original features that were virtually untouched.’

It turned out to be an excellent Italy property investment for the couple, who bought it at a rate of approximately 900 euros (£768) per square metre, compared to the current value of such property which is around 2,345 (£2,000) per square metre.

Todi - meaning ‘a fortified place’ - is a medieval town that is still surrounded by original Roman and Etruscan walls.

Italy property beside the sea a stable investment?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009
Italy property owners do love to be beside the seaside, according to a new report by an Italian estate agent conglomerate.

Anyone investing in Italy property in Calabria and Basilicata in the last couple of years will have found the value of their holiday homes untroubled by the recent trend for property market slumps in some areas, according to italymag.co.uk.

Seaside home prices in the two southern region s were shown by the Tecnocasa report to have held steady despite slight falls in market value in some regions of the north and central of the country.

British buyers investing in holiday homes in the beachfront resort of Soverato on the Ionian Sea were singled out by the report as having made a wise choice of Italy property purchase.

Recent research by John Lewis and Waitrose has shown that UK employers are being more flexible than ever on holiday dates, giving Italy property-loving Brits even more opportunities to dig out their buckets and spades.
