Nowadays, Altea is the centre of cultural life on the Costa Blanca with its new Arts Centre and Concert Hall (Palau Altea Centre d’Arts). Alongside its many antique shops, there is the orthodox church of Saint Michael built according to traditional Russian architecture and consecrated in 2005.

Altea has a reputation for its famous restaurants located in the Old Town and along the wonderful seafront promenade offering both Mediterranean cooking and international cuisine.
