Donated to the Order of Christ in 1531, Quinta da Granja dates back to the early sixteenth century. Between that date and the year 1543, the Prior of the Convent of Christ - the Friar António de Lisboa - expanded the estate by building a "row of houses with an oratory", which would then be used as a nursing home for the friars of Tomar. These 16th-century houses were renovated in the early 17th century, during the priory of Friar António Moniz. Carried out between 1617 and 1626, the works included the reconstruction of the main building, taking advantage of the original structure - a building whose main facade is divided into two sections, the top one featuring various rectangular windows arranged in regular spaces. The lateral facades stand out for their buttresses with pyramidal details. The left facade's upper floor features a double-arched loggia, in the center of which a Serlian window has been opened. The old chapel is located next to the rear facade, and the nave is decorated with 16th-century tile panels. Two sublime spaces - a room with diamond-tipped tiles dating back to the first half of the 17th century, and a large hall onto which open the friars' ancient cells. This heritage includes a dovecote and a recreation area next to the Nabão River, called Açude de Pedra (Stone Dike). This is an excellent investment opportunity for rural tourism, agro-tourism, or historical/religious tourism. Public interest heritage since 1996. In addition to the buildings (a built-up area of 1,996 square meters which includes the main house, the dovecote, the water wheel, the mill, and so on), the surrounding plot - spanning approximately 235 hectares, including the Açude de Pedra area - is also for sale. Quinta da Granja is a unique property in the region of Tomar, both for its size - 232 hectares - and for the architectural grandeur of its main building, whose construction dates back to the 16th century.
