The accommodation itself comprises an entrance hall with cloakroom, living room with views to front, separate dining room with fireplace and views to front, study and an open plan hand built "Tulipwood" fitted kitchen with breakfast area having double doors to rear. To the first floor there are four double bedrooms, en-suite bathroom and shower room. OWNERS DESCRIPTION
We have lived at The Manse, 13 Alexandra Road since 2002 and have found the location to be ideal for us – for the children to walk to school or college and to be ideally located for the train station, the town centre or walking our dog in the nearby parks.
The house was built in 1906 and we have the original Indenture with wax seals to detail the parties who built and named the property “The Manse” as the attached photo shows. There is a lot of history to the house, and in 1911 it was only one of four houses in the road.
We have redecorated throughout the house and brought back original features such as the fireplaces to the two front bedrooms (blocked in previously), but the biggest change we made was to upgrade the kitchen. We used a joiner from Cornwall who was impeccable in his design and installation of the kitchen; we didn’t want tile splashbacks to the worktops so he scribed the worktops to fit the walls!
We also removed an old garage from the driveway that was not pleasant on the eye – replaced by timber structures for a studio and a workshop.
We are looking to move to West Wales with our family, but are proud to have been a part of the history of this wonderful house.
