Description

A fully restored Grade II Listed property in a secluded part of Nursling.

Bargain Farmhouse is a fully restored, Grade II Listed cottage in a secluded yet, very convenient part of Nursling. The property has been sympathetically and successfully restored- beautifully re-thatched with water reed in 2021, the timber frame has been repaired and strengthened by craftsmen under the supervision of a specialist. The roof has also been insulated with fire retardant boarding and the structure encased in fire resistant sheeting. It has been fully decorated internally with lime plaster, new plumbing and electrical wiring.

In addition to the work on the farmhouse, a two-storey, timber framed garage/utility/home office has been constructed which is ideal for those wanting to work from home.

Using dendrochronology it has been established that the oaks used in the original farmhouse date back to 1599/1600. The comprehensive restoration by the Romsey and District Buildings Preservation Trust has been carried out to preserve this unique building for many years to come, it will provide a beautiful family home in this secluded yet extremely convenient part of Nursling.

The gardens lie predominantly to the front of the property but there is an area laid to lawn at the rear too. There is off road parking in front of the garage and further generous off road parking beside the back door.

Conveniently placed midway between Romsey and Southampton, Nursling provides a range of local facilities with the larger centres of Romsey and Southampton being about 3 miles equidistant. The M27 can be accessed at junction 3 with the major centres of Salisbury, Southampton, Winchester and Portsmouth within easy reach.
