Manuel is a municipality in the province of Valencia with around 2,600 inhabitants. It belongs to the region of La Ribera Alta, although it is located just 10 minutes from Xátiva, capital of the region of La Costera. Together with Enova, it has a train station that facilitates communication with Valencia, with local trains running every 30 minutes. In addition, medium-distance trains to the main cities in the country run from the nearby Xàtiva station.

The A-7 motorway, which runs along the Mediterranean coast from the north of the country (Barcelona, Tarragona) through the centre (Castellón, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia) to the south (Almería, etc.), is located in the centre of the city.

It is situated on a wide plain, surrounded by cultivated fields and its only undulations are the Sierra Valiente and the hill of Las Salinas, with a maximum altitude of just over 100 metres. The river Albaida is very close to the municipality. Agriculture continues to be, as it has been throughout its history, its main economic activity. In recent years the service sector has been gaining importance, but it is still far from the importance of the agricultural sector in this Valencian town.

It has one of the most beautiful churches in the region, dedicated to Santa Ana and built in the 18th century. It is not the only monument of interest in the municipality, but it is also worth mentioning the Manuel Palace, which is now known as Casa Estruch.

The town celebrates the festivities of La Candelaria (2nd February), when *candles* or small candles are blessed to protect their bearers in storms, together with a small procession around the church. Throughout the day you can enjoy the *porrat* fair, which is celebrated with wine and the typical dried fruit (torrat).

There are also the patron saint festivities of San Gil (1st September) and the Moors and Christians festivities which take place on the first Sunday in August.
