Description

This stunning family home was built for the owners about five years ago by a local builder and craftsmen, the oak frame being designed and made by renowned specialists Oakwrights of Hereford, and is set in 4.13 acres of parkland, bordered by the River Wingham. It is approached through automatic gates and opens onto the spacious gravel drive that leads to the two bay oak framed car barn with a workshop, log store and cloakroom. The impressive central barn style pitched roof main entrance with its double height cathedral style windows and engineered oak front doors lead into the spacious, vaulted entrance hall with exposed beams and limestone flooring with underfloor heating that flows throughout the ground floor and a hand-crafted staircase with bespoke metal bannisters. There is also a coat cupboard and the ‘engine' room with all the functions controlling the property's modern technology.

The vast family space is semi open plan with oak-framed archways creating the divisions and includes a games area, dining area and a bespoke kitchen/breakfast area with storage units made of concrete with oak doors, a larder cupboard, a central island and high end appliances. There is a long breakfast bar, bi-fold doors to the garden and a seating area with a bespoke two-way log burner that also heats the dual aspect lounge. This has large windows, a fireplace area, log store, shelving and a TV with surround sound. Also on the ground floor is a dual aspect office/fifth bedroom, a wet room, a fitted utility and boot room. The vaulted ceiling landing, includes bookshelves and seating areas and leads to the trendy family bathroom and four double bedrooms including one with an en suite shower and a mezzanine area and the main bedroom with its en suite bathroom, dressing room and balcony. The raised decked terrace includes water butts underneath while another garden area has a block paved patio and the parkland includes mature trees and shrubs and a drainage system.

What the Owner says:

A great deal of thought went into the design and creation of this special home including using handmade Kent peg tiles and bespoke fixtures and fittings as well as having various tiers of lighting so you can change the lighting to suit your mood. We love the area and previously lived in another house nearby but we are moving abroad for business reasons. Although this property owns the private road from the high street the other houses along the road do have right of way and contribute to the road's upkeep.

Wingham includes a 13th century church, thatched cottages, medieval hall houses and handsome Georgian buildings and includes a well-regarded local pre-school and primary school while nearby Adisham primary is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. There are excellent grammar schools in nearby Sandwich and Canterbury and top private schools in Canterbury. There are two pubs, a general store and country market as well as a surgery and dentist. Nearby is the excellent Gibsons farm shop and a garden centre.
