A wonderful family home situated on the edge of this popular village.

Description

Windfield House is approached over a gravelled drive with parking and garaging to the front. It is a well-proportioned, family home built in 1999 that has subsequently been updated and extended. The house is situated on the edge of the popular village of Highclere. There is a superb outlook to the rear over the gardens to a border of mature trees and rural views beyond. The house was extended in 2021 to create a garden room, which provides an excellent entertaining space.
Windfield House is entered via a large vaulted entrance hall and gives access to the kitchen and some of the main reception rooms. The sitting room is large and light being double aspect with an open fire and there is an adjoining dining room and an open plan kitchen and family room. Both the sitting room and family room have doors to the garden room. The garden room is currently used as a games room and provides a large flexible space ideal for entertaining with large sliding doors out to the garden. There is also a study, utility room and cloakroom. On the first floor the galleried landing gives access to all rooms. The principal suite is at the rear with an en suite shower room with two basins. The four remaining bedrooms are all doubles and share two family bathrooms.
The rear garden is flat and predominantly laid to lawn with terracing running along the rear elevation of the property facing west.
There is a separate covered seating area ideal for entertaining with BBQ and bar area. Also to the rear of the property is a studio with water and power which would be perfect for an outdoor office and working from home.

Location

Windfield House sits off a small lane in the popular village of Highclere. The village is well known for its castle and is surrounded by some stunning countryside designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is excellent walking, cycling and riding in the area and an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways such as the Wayfairers Walk, as well as the Kennet and Avon Canal, the North Hampshire Downs including Watership Down and the Bourne Valley. The village also boasts a pretty church, whilst nearby Woolton Hill has a local shop, Post Office and primary and junior schools. Highclere is well placed for access to the A34, and therefore the M4 and south the A303/M3. Newbury lies 5.3 miles to the north and has a broader provision of shops and amenities including a mainline railway station with regular services to London Paddington, Reading and the West Country.
