The Common is a beautiful place to walk and connects to Downside Common in Cobham where there is a beautiful village green and The Cricketers Inn. On the south side of Bookham is Polesden Lacey, owned and run by The National Trust, it is a beautiful Edwardian house and estate on the North Downs and the edge of the Surrey Hills.

There are a number of excellent private and state schools in the area, including Manor House, St Teresa's, Cranmore, St Lawrence Primary School and the Howard of Effingham.
