Description

Wandering out into the garden to spend time in the sunshine with friends and family, the owners of the property at Norden Mead still marvel at its easy flow and superb space. “We have really enjoyed being able to accommodate friends and family members here with us so comfortably,” one of them says. “This is a brilliant house for daily living, entertaining and welcoming overnight guests.” Indeed, the substantial, five-bedroom home had everything they were seeking back in 2018. “It had such a lot of space, wonderful high ceilings and huge bedrooms, all with en suite bath or shower rooms,” she recalls. “We loved the shape of the property, the garden and the double garage, which could be accessed from inside the house. We have enjoyed absolutely everything about being here – and leaving is going to be extremely emotional. We would stay here forever if we could.”

GARDEN VIEWS

Part of an exclusive, small development at Walton, the impressive, detached, three-storey home dates back to 2011. The current owners have ensured it has been well maintained: they have retained the superior standard of its décor and the high specification of its finish. “It was so well designed and built that we have changed very little,” she observes. “The main addition to the house has been the creation of a beautiful garden room, which is where we now spend much of our time. This adjoins the kitchen breakfast room and dining room to make one beautiful, open-plan living space. It has a large window overlooking the garden, as well as French windows.”

LEAFY LIVING

Set behind a gated entrance and generous courtyard, the property has a striking appearance, with an abundance of glass. It is entered via a gorgeous reception hall, which fans off into all the main living accommodation, as well as the study and ground-floor cloakroom. Double doors open into the drawing room, which is a spectacular, light-filled, triple-aspect room. At one end, there is a bay window and, at the other, French windows on to the garden. “This is another lovely room for relaxing in and gazing out over the garden – we are lucky enough to have a conservation area behind us, which means we are well screened, especially in summer, by lots of greenery.”

STYLISH KITCHEN

Doors from the reception hall also open into both the chic kitchen breakfast room and the dining room. These spaces are open plan to each other and also flow into the new garden room. The kitchen, which is fitted out with high specification appliances and has a long central island, also leads into the utility room, where there is a door into the garage. The dining room features another set of French windows on to the garden. “This part of the house is outstanding for people like us who often have family visiting – we frequently have 25 to 30 people here, flowing between this area and the garden,” she says.

FAMILY SPACE

The first floor of the property encompasses three of the beautiful bedroom suites. The sizeable master bedroom, which runs from front to back of the house, has a dressing room, built-in storage and large en suite bathroom. “Doors from this room open on to a glass-fronted balcony, where it is lovely to sit out on warm afternoons and evenings,” she suggests. Another bedroom has a dressing room with storage and an en suite shower room, while the third, exceptionally large bedroom, has a bank of fitted wardrobes and an en suite bathroom. Two additional bedrooms – one with an en suite bathroom and the other with an en suite shower room – are on the top floor of the house. “We have an area on the first-floor landing that we have converted into a family room,” she adds. “This is a nice place to sit and read or chat in the evening before going to bed.”

A PERFECT PLACE

The owners have loved the tranquillity of their Walton setting. “We feel away from everything here and yet can get to shops, schools, central Milton Keynes, M1 and the station very easily,” she says. “There are also some fantastic walking trails, lakes and parks in the area.” She sees the garden as a blank canvas that new owners may wish to put their own stamp on but otherwise believes they will simply move in and enjoy the property just as it is. “Everything about it has been wonderful and we feel very lucky to have found it when we did,” she agrees.
